Sawasdee Khrup! From the Land of Smiles, Malaysia’s northern neighbour is extending a warm gesture of greeting and invitation to local entrepreneurs and businesses for mutually beneficial trade and business opportunities via the Thailand Trade Exhibition 2010 at the Mid Valley Exhibition Centre here.

Not forgetting Malaysian consumers with a penchant for all things Thai, they too would also be able to savour a flavor of the kingdom just by visiting the exhibition held on August 20-22. Highlights such as the exotic food from the North to the South, the finely crafted handicrafts & textile, health & spa products, breath-taking locations of Thailand and the warm hospitality of the Thai people, and lots more, are just some of the many attractions and exhibits that visitors would be able to enjoy.

Business Matching Sessions
Held yearly since 2008, however, this is the first time that the organizers will be arranging business matching sessions for Malaysian entrepreneurs and businesses who are keen to explore opportunities and cooperation with their Thai counterparts.
A total of 58 exhibitors from various industries, such as food & beverage, health & beauty, jewellery, garment/fashion apparel, gift & decorative, bags, edu-toys, plastic & household products, electrical and printing material would be exhibiting their products and/or services, and would be keen to explore business tie-ups.

For more information Malaysian entrepreneurs can contact tel: 03-79605055 or email: thaibusinessmatching@gmail.com.

Visitors who attend the exhibition will also stand a chance to win a round trip business class ticket to Chiang Mai. All they need to do is fill in a form, from the Department of Export Promotion (DEP) counter, answer a few questions and write a slogan.

Apart from the exhibits, there will be a Thai Cultural Dance 3 shows daily (Fri-Sat at 12.30pm, 3.30pm & 7.00pm and Sunday at 12.30pm, 3.30pm, 5.00pm), there will also be stage activities, such as games with the visitors and also cooking demo by some well known Thai restaurants.

Background

This exhibition is the official trade and consumer fair organized by the Thai Government’s Department of Export Promotion (DEP), of the Ministry of Commerce. As per last year, the exhibition is supported by the Royal Thai Embassy, Ministry of Labour of Thailand, and Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT).

The DEP is the main agency that is responsible for promoting Thailand’s export products and services to the world market. DEP’s major role is to foster the development of the competitive capabilities of Thai companies and businesses by organizing activities and events that create opportunities to increase exports. DEP pursues marketing strategies that help Thai businesses reach their target groups by organizing activities within Thailand and foreign countries as well.

One such trade event organized overseas is the Made In Thailand Outlet, known this time as the Thailand Trade Exhibition. Thailand Trade Exhibition is a consumer fair that is organized in a professional manner and cannot be compared to other Thai fairs that is being organized by local organizers. Thailand Trade Exhibition also focuses on promoting Malaysian importers/distributors of Thai products and services to the local consumers.

Thai Exports Hit Historic High in June
Thailand’s exports soared to a record high last month (July), helping reinvigorate a recovering economy, government figures showed yesterday. Shipments leapt 46.3% from a year earlier to US$18.04 billion (RM57.7 billion), the highest level since records began in 1976, the Commerce Ministry said. Exports of agricultural products and industrial goods were particularly strong, enabling the country to post a June trade surplus of US$2.32 billion (RM7.4 billion). Imports rose 37.9% year-on-year to US$15.72 billion (RM50.3 billion) (AFP reports)

Following an extensive research on the beauty industry in Southeast Asia, it was brought to light that the majority of beauty shows in the region were B2C oriented (Business t COnsumer – where the products and services exhibited were targeted at the public) and not B2B (Business to Business – where exhibitors cater specifically to the beauty professionals in the industry such as salon and spa owners, beauty academy students and potential investors in the beauty trade).

ECMI Trade Fairs SEA thus conceptualised and launched Cosmobeauté, a very first beauty trade exhibition in Southeast Asia that caters to beauty professionals such as importers, distributors, professional beauticians, spa therapists, etc.

There have been similar international beauty shows organised in Europe and independent shows in Asia but to date, there was no one show that aimed at a regional platform for the Southeast Asia market.

The project team behind the flagship CosmoBeauté series of events has extensive knowledge of the beauty, spa and wellness industry. With a combined experience of more than 50 years in organizing international trade shows. ECMI organizes CosmoBeauté Asia in Kuala Lumpur, CosmoBeauté Indonesia in Jakarta and CosmoBeauté Vietnam in Ho Chi Minh annually. It is the only event organizer in the region to bring such a premier trade event in South East Asia.

The mission of CosmoBeauté series events is to bridge exhibitors with up and coming markets in South East Asia for cosmetics, beauty, spa & wellness equipment and products.
