Enhanced Rapport and Trade at Thailand Week 2014

KUALA LUMPUR, 12 Sept 2014 – The three exciting days of networking and discovery of everything Thai culminated with the close of Thailand Week 2014 last Sunday at Mid Valley Exhibition Centre.

Featuring more than 80 Thai and local exhibitors, Thailand Week 2014 attracted more than 30,000 visitors to its doors to experience the very best of Thai offerings and culture.

Meanwhile, the fair’s Business Matching session saw more than 70 Malaysian companies across a range of industries – food and beverage, health and beauty, fashion and jewellery, and household and kitchenware – successfully forming new business relations with their Thai counterparts, further promoting trade opportunities between the two countries.

“Thailand Week has proven itself to be a highly effective, practical and lucrative platform from which Thai and Malaysian businesses could benefit from. This is demonstrated not only by this year’s figures but also by the increasing numbers of the previous years. We hope that all visitors have had a productive and enjoyable time at the fair, and will continue to support us in subsequent Thailand Week editions in Malaysia,” said Director Vichada Pabunjerkit, Minister Counselor, Office of Commercial Affairs of the Royal Thai Embassy.

Besides seizing business opportunities, visitors at Thailand Week 2014 were also treated to numerous Thai cultural activities such as puppet painting, traditional drawing techniques and traditional massage. A traditional Thai dance by Joe Louis Theater also highlighted the event, offering visitors a glimpse into the olden days where this disappearing artform was performed only for the royal family.

Adding even more excitement was the Thai cooking demonstration by award-winning Chef Kent Arnon who duly impressed the crowds with his knowledge and skills in preparing some of the most delectable Thai dishes.

Thailand Week is an annual trade fair organised by the Department of International Trade Promotion under the Thai Ministry of Commerce and managed by Siam Connection Sdn Bhd to showcase high quality and affordable Thai produce and products in Malaysia. The fair is organised with the primary aim of establishing business ties and enhancing bilateral trade between Thai and Malaysian entrepreneurs, as well as to promote Thailand’s unique culture in Malaysia.
